What will really make a difference for climate change on a global level?
If you have ever felt confused by the question "what will really make a difference for climate change on a global level", the non-profit organization Project Drawdown is trying to give you an answer. Partnering with researchers, the project developed a list of the 100 biggest solutions for climate change across sectors - ranked by impact - in an easy to read format, either as a book, or simply on their website.
The list provides an interesting read and some of the solutions that came up were surprising even to experts in the field - number 1 for example is "Refrigerant Management" - i.e., preventing cooling liquids from existing air conditioning units from escaping into the atmosphere.
So how was the list created? The team selected solutions from a long list based on impact, feasibility and confidence in the data, based on a number of questions:
Behind the solutions lies an extensive modelling effort and the models have been reviewed by a team of researchers, however the models are not published yet, so a formal peer review process has not yet taken place.
